Abidjan
Abidjan is the largest city and earlier capital of the Côte d'Ivoire (the Ivory Coast). It is because of the gulf of Guinea. It grew rapidly from 65.000 inhabitants in the year 1950 to the town with millions of inhabitants with 3.692.570 inhabitants (conditions 1. January 2005).

history
1934 Abidjan became the capital of the French colony the Ivory Coast. Although 1983 Yamoussoukro of Felix Houphouet Boigny to the new capital was determined, are still numerous government offices and messages, likewiselike the national library and the national museum in Abidjan.
economics and education
Abidjan has a university and several technical universities.
Important branches of industry are the automobile manufacturing, as well as the wood, chemistry and textile industry. Over the port of Abidjan coffee , cocoa , becomes wood and pineapple ships. In the French coined/shaped metropolis also today still many Frenchmen in important places of the economy are to be found, in particular in addition, a great many Lebaneses as owners of smaller factories and particularly in the trade.
