Adolf black
Adolf black (* 21. October 1836 in Galszecs (Hungary); † 25. October 1910 in Vienna) was a Austria-Hungarian chess master.
The black born in Hungary was a buyer and lived starting from 1872 in Vienna. From then on it ranked among the strongest chess players in Austria.
Its largest success was the second place 1878 in Frankfurt (behind Paulsen), the third place 1879 at German congress of chess in Leipzig, the divided first place (with Blackburne and English) as well as the divided first place 1879 in Graz.
It denied also several duels. Thus it won 1878 against Minckwitz (+3, - 2, =4), 1880 against Winawer 3:1 and 1897 against Albin 2:1 (+2, - 1, =0). it lost 1879 against Paulsen with 2:5.
Its best historical Elo number amounted to 2657. This reached it in May 1882.
