Aescwine
Aescwine (also: Escwin) († 676) was in the years 674 - 676 king of Wessex.
Aescwine was a son of the king Cenfus, which he followed 674 on the throne. In the year 675 it defeated king Wulfhere of Mercia in the battle of Bedanheafde (Bedwin), in which Wulfhere fell, but could Aescwine the victory use. Aescwine died after an only two-year government. Its successor became Centwine, the son of Cynegils and brother of the Cenwalh.
