Geografie

old cathedrals is on 442 m height (place) in the trusting quarter and is enough from the western summit region of the hell mountains (high leakage and Brunnkogel, 1,708 m) up to the Gmundner bathing beach (sea-height 422 m). The expansion amounts to from north to south 14.2 km, from west to east 11.5 km. The total area amounts to 79 km ². 48.1% of the surface are wooded, 35.4% of the surface are agriculturally used. Local parts of the municipality are: Old cathedral, even, even two, hit a corner, Gmundnerberg, grass mountain, Mühlbach, after lake, new churches, Reindlmühl.

official description of the municipality coat of arms: Split and halfdivided; right in black the top of a golden church tower with square basement and octagonal upper floor, the windows, outgoing from the sign foot, black opened, the octagonal pointed roof crowned of a Knauf with Wetterhahn; left divided by a blue, narrow bar, above into gold on green hill a greener, schwarzstämmiger coniferous tree, down split by silver and red three times.

history

a place at the trusting lake is mentioned for the first time in the year 909 as location one “monasterium” named “Trunseio”. Originally lying in the East part of the duchy Bavaria, the place belonged to 12 since that. Century to the duchy Austria. Since 1490 it the Principality of “Austria whether the Enns” is added. While the Napoleoni wars was several times occupied the place. Old cathedral is since 1850 independent municipality. Since 1918 the place belongs to the Land of the Federal Republic upper Austria. After the connection of Austria to the German Reich to 13. March 1938 belonged the place to to “gau upper Danube”. After 1945 the re-establishment of upper Austria took place. To 9. June 1952 took place the collection to the market municipality.
