Anthologia Palatina
the Anthologia Palatina, also Anthologia Graeca mentioned, is an extensive collection of Greek Epigramme from before-classical, classical, brightistic and Byzantine time.
Epigramme - from one or more verses, ever a hexadecimal meter and a following Pentameter existing sense sayings to the most diverse topics - were in the old Greece as inscriptions on all kinds of articles likes. As easily too memorierende, short and nevertheless form-completed small poems they belonged to the today's jokes to the maintenance repertoire of the formed circles, far away comparably. They became with all conceivable causes, particularly with festive guest meals (symposiums) gladlyto the general Erheiterung and mind collection spoken. Century was based the knowledge of the Greek Epigrammatik on a Codex (Codex Marcianus 481), that in the year 1299 a Byzantine monk named Maximos Planudes in Konstantinopelfrom older works had copied. End 16. Century in the Heidelberger lock library an older Codex (Codex Palatinus 23) was rediscovered, which had been copied around the year 980 by four writers from older handwriting. This Codex contains all in 15 books nearlyEpigramme, which also the Codex of the Planudes contains. This is called today Anthologia Planudea. Anthologia Palatina or Anthologia Graeca is called now, the older collection received in the Heidelberger Codex.
Both handwriting, which Codex Palatinus (Anthologia Palatina) and the Codex Marcianus (Anthologia Planudea) goessentially on the same earlier collection back, around the year 900 Anthologie arranged by the clergyman Konstantinos Kephalas in Konstantinopel, those for their part on the antique collections of the Meleagros of Gadara (around 70 v. Chr.) des Philippos冯Thessalonike (um 40 n.Chr。)and the Agathias (end 6. Century) decrease/go back.
