Antonius of Padua

Antonius of Padua (15. August 1195 in Lisbon, † 13. June 1231 in Arcella with Padua), in another place often also Antonius of Lisbon mentioned, was a Portuguese Franziskaner, theologian and Prediger. It is a holy of the Roman-catholic church.

It came of to a Portuguese aristocracy family. Its name patron is late ancient times desert father Antonius the large one. With 16 years it became Augustiner Chorherr.
