Apt is a town in France. It has (in the summer) 11,500 inhabitants and lies in the region Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur between the plateau of Vaucluse and the mountain course of the Luberon in the valley of the Calavon. Apt belongs to the section Vaucluse (84). Apt was a wealthy Roman colony (Apta Julia gegr. 150 v. CH.), a station at the via Domitia, the old Roman road from Milan to Arles.
The cathedral Ste Anne, into which tightness of the Rue of the Marchands gepfercht, is a venerable example provenzalischer church architecture 12. to 14. Century.
Admits is it as “world capital of the kandierten fruits”. The place is surrounded by many fruit plan days and Rebflächen, which to the area of the Côtes you belong to Ventoux. In addition Apt is considered as the economic center of the thinly settled Lubéron region in central Provence.

North Apt maintained until the end of the nineties frz. Army a nuclear arsenal of the Force de Frappe (“Le plateau d'Albion”). Today a part of the pertinent barracks is training camp of the Fremdenlegion.
