the working group formerly pursued Social Democrats (AvS) is a working group of party members within the SPD, who were pursued during the time of the national socialism or in the former GDR because of their affiliation to the social-democracy.
history
the AvS developed after the Second World War as combination of former resistance fighters and concentration camp passengers. A goal of the working group was from the outset the clearing-up work over the national socialism and starting from the 80's also the fight against the Erstarken new rights. In particular the position of time witnesses for meetings of most diverse organizations over the NS time was operated intensively of the AvS.
1997 decided the AvS to also also co-operate by the SED pursued Social Democrats from the former GDR.
structure
the AvS has - biologically caused - today only very few and also aged members from the resistance against the third realm. The AvS publishes a news service six times annually and takes part with advisers in seminars and time witnesses in meetings (e.g. in schools) about extremism and fascism. Federal leader of the AvS is Mrs. Professor. Dr. Susanne Miller. The seat of the AvS is in Berlin, into which SPD districts is it with memorial place-assigned and federalcommittee-delegated represent.
