Arno Babadschanjan
Arno Babadschanjan (Arno Harutyuni Babadzhanian (Babadjanian) * 22. January 1921 in Jerewan; † 15. November 1983 in Moscow) was an Armenian composer.
Babadschanjan studied at the conservatoire of Jerewan with Vardkes Talian. it went to 1947 to the conservatoire from Moscow, where he became piano pupil of Konstantin Igumnow. Besides it studied composition with Heinrich Litinski. 1950 it returned to Armenia, where it worked as teacher and a pianist.
In this year one of its most famous works, the Armenian rhapsody for two pianos developed. 1952 developed a Klaviertrio, 1954 the Poem rhapsody for orchestras. 1959 followed a Sonate for violin and piano and the Mstislaw Rostropowitsch dedicated cello concert. In addition it composed further chamber-musical works as well as songs and film music. 1981 developed NOC-do gymnastics for piano and sinfonisches jazz ensemble. While it oriented itself first at the Armenian people music, it opened since end of the 1950er years decided musical innovations and separated from the tonality.
