Arnold Mendelssohn
Arnold Ludwig Mendelssohn (* 26. December 1855 in Ratibor; † 18. February 1933 in Darmstadt) was a German composer and music paedagogue.

Mendelssohn was the son of a cousin of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. It studied first in Tübingen law, then however starting from 1877 in Berlin music. 1880 it became organist and university music teacher in Bonn, 1882 director of music in Bielefeld, 1885 teachers at the conservatoire in Cologne and 1891 Gymnasial Musiklehrer and church music master in Darmstadt.
Mendelssohn informed starting from 1912 at the Hoch' conservatoire in Frankfurt/Main, where Paul Hindemith belonged to his pupils. 1919 it became member of the citizens of Berlin academy of the arts. It wrote three operas and choir works apart from chamber music. With Mendelssohns of religious choir music the renewal of the Evangelist church music began.
