August Friedrich Pauly
August Friedrich Pauly (* 9. May 1796 in Benningen at the Neckar with Ludwigsburg, † 2. May 1845 in Stuttgart) was classical Philologe.
Its Hauptwerk is the material Encyclopädie of the classischen Alterthumswissenschaft alphabetical correct, which he published starting from 1837 and which was designated also after it. Pauly died 1845, before he could lock its work; this transferred Christian Waltz and William victory mouth Teuffel in the following seven years. This first expenditure consisted of six volumes. A second expenditure was taken in the years 1861 to 1866 in attack, but never placed finished.
New edition works by George Wissowa was procured, according to which it is called Pauly Wissowa. An edited version is the small Pauly, which appeared from 1964 to 1975 in five volumes, a revision the new Pauly (19 volumes from 1996 to 2003).
