Bärbel hitting a corner ore, verh. Wöckel, (* 21. March 1955 in Leipzig), is a former German light athlete and a repeated Olympiasiegerin.
Bärbel hitting a corner ore trained at the sports club engine Jena and is considered as one the largest GDR - to German Sprint Läuferinnen. In the single disciplines it was never gegönnt it to run a world record. However it ran several times in the team with Doris Maletzki , Renate Stecher and Christina Heinich world record over 4x100m. The latter times to 8. September 1974 in Rome. With the GDR championships it in the 4 x 100 m relay occupied 1974, 1977, 1978, 1981 to 1984 in each case the 1. Place. 1976 won it with the crew the 3. Place.
With the XXI. Olympic summer games 1976 in Montréal, Canada it won the gold medal before the West German Annegret judge (silver) and Renate Stecher (bronze), likewise originating from the GDR, as well as the crew gold medal in 4 x 100 m relay run as well as its team colleagues Marlies Oelsner, Renate Stecher and Carla soil village before the West German (silver) and the Russian crew (bronze).
With the XXII. Olympic summer games 1980 in Moscow it could repeat their olympic success of 1976 and won again the gold medal in the 200-Meter-Lauf before the Russian Natalja offering China (silver) and the Jamaikanerin Merlene Ottey (bronze). Also it could repeat success in the relay run and achieved those crew gold medal as well as its team colleagues Romy Mueller, Ingrid Auerswald and Marlies Göhr before the Russian (silver) and the British crew (bronze).
In both years, 1976 and 1980, it set up an olympic record with its victory over 200 m also.
With the European championships 1982 it could become generally accepted over 200 m, by defeating the Britin Kathy Cook Smallwood, had itself however in the king discipline, which 100-Meter-Lauf, its Bezwingerin Marlies Göhr struck to give.
With a size of 1,74 m it had a match weight of 62 kg.
Today Bärbel Wöckel leads paper youth in the German athlete IC federation.
