BRENDA stands for those Braunschweiger enzyme data base. It is the world-wide largest on-line collection from data to Enzymes and Metabolic pathways. Those Data base is free for academic users over that InterNet available. The data are based on the Handbook OF of enzyme published in Springer publishing house. It becomes at Institut for biochemistry that University to Cologne in the working group of Prof. Dietmar Schomburg led and develops further. To the users belong to the data base Biologist, Bio computer scientist, Pharmakologen, Physician and Chemist. The data base is used of more than 15,000 registered scientists and works on each month more than 1.1 million inquiries (visits).
