Bernardino Telesio
Bernardino Telesio (* 1509 in Cosenza, † 1588 in Cosenza) was an Italian philosopher and natural scientist.
Telesio studied until 1535 in Milan, Rome and Padua. In the years 1535 to 1544 it lived in a Benediktinerkloster. 1553 he married and returned to Cosenza, 1561 died its wife. Since 1576 it lived alternating in Cosenza and Neapel.
Telesio was a prominent critic of the philosophical system of Aristoteles. It affected numerous philosophers such as Francis Bacon, Giordano Bruno, Tommaso Campanella, Pierre Gassendi and Thomas Hobbes.
