Blenio (district)
the district Blenio (ital. Distretto di Blenio, ehem. Landvogtei Bollenz) is a subunit of the canton Tessin in Switzerland. Principal place is Acquarossa. It is 360,9 km ² largely, counts 5620 inhabitants (at the end of of 2004) and consists of the following circles (circoli):

changes in the existence since 1803
- in the year 1836 was united the municipality Bottino with Ghirone.
- With decree of 25. November 1927 was assigned the earlier municipality to Grumo of the municipality Torre.
- With decree of 8. Octobers 2003 were fused the earlier municipalities Castro , Corzoneso , Dongio , Largario , Leontica , Lottigna , Marolta , Ponto Valentino and Prugiasco to the new municipality Acquarossa.
- On the spring 2006 the fusion of the five highest municipalities of the district was announced. Aquila, Campo (Blenio), Ghirone, Olivone and Torre are to be united to the new municipality Blenio. (Federal Office for statistics: Announced changes since the mutation message No. 81 to the official municipality listing of Switzerland, expenditure 12. September 2005). Since an a language was hängig with the Federal court, the fusion date was shifted on autumn 2006. (Federal Office for statistics: Announced changes since the mutation message No. 81 to the official municipality listing of Switzerland, expenditure 20. January 2006). In April 2006 the Federal court decided against the complaint of the municipality Aquila.
