Bob Crosby
George Robert „Bob “Crosby was an American singer and bends to volume - leaders (* 23. August 1913 in Spokane, Washington /USA; † 9. March 1993 in La Jolla, California /USA). He was the younger brother of Bing Crosby.
Starting from 1931 Bob in the orchestra of Anson Weeks sang. it sang 1935 in the orchestra of the Dorsey Brothers, when it was invited by the saxophone player Gil Rodin to give from this 1934 created orchestras (from jumped off members of the orchestra of Ben pole lacquer) its name to: The Bob Crosby Orchestra, with its Combo, the BobCats, was one the best (v.a. Dixieland -) jazz volume of their time. It was led actually by Gil Rodin. Crosby was only the front one, who kept the contact to the public, and a singer. With the summoning of several members (also Crosbys and Rodins) to the military service in the Second World War the orchestra dissolved. Afterwards Crosby summoned the BobCats together into the 80's several times to routes.
From 1946 to 1952 it had its own radio show (club 15) and from 1953 to 1957 an halfhour television broadcast (The Bob Crosby show, with CBS, 1958 with NBC, then adjusted). Bob Crosby died 1993 at cancer.
