Bollingstedt was mentioned for the first time 1196, Gammellund 1352. The place name Bollingstedt means dwelling concentration.
The today's Gemeindegebiet exists since 1976, when the municipalities Bollingstedt and Gammellund united. Beekholt, Bollingstedt Lund, close-bridge, for Görrisau, CSU the field and Westerschau are appropriate in the Gemeindegebiet.
Bollingstedt was distinguished more beautifully in the competition our village is to become from 1962 to 2003 thirteen-meal, Gammellund from 1971 to 2003 ten times. When Bollingstedt became 1963 federal winners, Federal President Heinrich Luebke visited the place in the context of the competition.
