Geografie
fire mountain are appropriate for a side valley of the rear Zillertals, which branches with Mayrhofen and is flowed through by the Ziller in the Zillergrund. The Gemeindegebiet takes nearly the entire Zillergrund and reaches up to the border with South Tyrol (Italy). Settling is formed by several yards and Weiler, whereby the principal place of the same name is appropriate for about 200 m over the Ziller. The municipality owes completeactive sun exposure to the southexposed situation. The high-altitude yards lie on approximately 1300 m sea-height.
To the municipality the local parts Steglach Pignellen , village, Windhag, Emberg, stone, maple oh, belong to pits, Ritzl Pötzmann, Nösslrain Klaushof, Häusling, outer ones and bear bath.
history
the name fire mountain (in former times called Pramberg, Pramach) deduces itself either from Brombeerschlag or from a Brandrodung. In 12. Century was cultivated the fire mountain by the salt citizen archbishop in only one Rodungsaktion. At that time five Schwaigen (cattle yards) were put on, which had to carry interest and Naturalabgaben for the responsible Maierhof out. It was operated with the south animal oiler Ahrntal Tauschwirtschaft over the Jöcher. The Schwaighöfe was gradually divided.
Until 1801 was fire mountain own steering wheels and administrative parishes, to which also Mayrhofen belonged. 1837 had to leave numerous Zillertaler Protestanten, under it many from fire mountain, their homeland.
1960 were developed the road connection, in order to set the tourism in motion. 1987 were finished the memory Zillergründl.
economics
main sources of income are the agriculture and the tourism, whereby fire mountain promotes the gentle tourism in contrast for instance to Mayrhofen. Besides the production of electricity (memory Zillergründl with power station) plays a role. In the side valleys of the Zillergründls predominantly seasonal alpine dairy farming is operated.
In the range to the municipality two contactor huts (Kolmhaus 1845 m and Plauener hut 2373 m) lie.
traffic
of Mayrhofen leads a road after fire mountain. The Zillertalbahn has its last stop in Mayrhofen, from there exists bus traffic.
