Bronisław Geremek
Bronisław Geremek (* 6. March 1932 in Warsaw in a Rabbiner< b> family) is a Polish historian and liberal politician.
Geremek was from 1950 to 1968 member of the PZPR. 1973 he became a professor for medievalHistory.1980 he was an advisor of the Solidarność. After the imposition of the martial law 1981 he was arrested and interned.
1989 it participated to the top plate - discussions. Starting from 1990 it was member of the liberals parties UD and its follow-up party UW. From 2000 to 2001 he stated the UW even as a party chairman.
From 1997 to 2000 he was a minister of foreign affairs of Poland. Since beginning of the 6. Electoral period of the European parliament 2004 is Geremek as an European delegate of the liberals a party Partia Demokratyczna actively.The delegates of the Partia Demokratyczna are members of the European liberal parliamentary group ALDE. Geremek was candidate as a parliament president. He works in the committee for constitutional questions.
