the federal motorway 57 (abbreviation: BAB 57) - short form: Motorway 57 (abbreviation: A 57) - A 77 ( NL) runs parallel to the Rhine over the left Niederrhein, Krefeld and Neuss to Cologne from the Netherlands border with Goch in continuation. From Rotterdam coming it is part of the European route 31. Due to its high economic meaning one can call A 57 Trans Niederrhein Magistrale.

South of Krefeld at the beginning of of May 2005 the extension to three lanes began for each carriageway.

Since the southern by-pass is not built by Neuss by A 46 nevertheless, the section between the connection point becomes Neuss west, from where A 46 to the west it is led and the motorway interchange Neuss south to a large extent sechsspurig developed. Also the connection point Neuss port was completely converted. For the moment is the connection point Neuss west (connection of B 1 /A 46) in the change, whereby both will have the standard of an efficient motorway interchange.
