the federal motorway 70 (abbreviation: BAB 70) - short form: Motorway 70 (abbreviation: A 70) - or Main valley motorway is a motorway, which leads 7 with pig ford across Bamberg to A 9 from A with Bayreuth. It has a length of about 120 kilometers.

Continuation as B 303 over Arzberg to the border crossing ski thing.

the distance is developed 4-spurig, except for the following exception:

The tunnel black mountain and the following bridge over the Main. The second tube of the tunnel was finished only in the summer 2004, some years after opening of the motorway. Subsequently, the old northern tube of a reorganization and a safety-relevant armament was submitted and entire traffic over the new tube was led. Since center 2005 both tubes are to traffic at the disposal. Since however the following Main bridge is not yet finished, for each direction only one lane is approved. In the new tunnel tube develops also in beautiful weather occasional nebulas, so that traffic often accumulates before the tunnel, since a red traffic light prevents a driving on.

Since autumn 2004 also the second roadway of the Main bridge is built, which will be finished 2007.
