history
origin
after those Berlin-Hamburg Chaussee between 1827 and 1830 to the art road was developed, became into the 1840er years also the communications branching from Perleberg developed. First the highway between joke mountains and Perleberg was removed in the year 1843 to the art road. Road construction between joke mountains and Stendal took place 1846 at the same time with the building of the railway line. 1849 were built the eastern distance section from Perleberg to Pritzwalk.

The realm road 189 was introduced around 1937. This road was completely on the territory of the GDR and as trunk road 189 (abbreviation F 189) was designated. 2003 were extended this federal highway from Pritzwalk to joke stick (connection point of A 19) by revaluation of the highway L 15 to the federal highway by 19,5 km.

still at GDR times a by-pass road for joke mountains was built, which led on 21,5 km length from ways to sea-living. In the course of this by-pass road a new road bridge was established over the Elbe, which was the largest complete steel bridge of the GDR at that time. The construction work began in June 1973 and became to 21. July 1978 with the release of the by-pass road finally. In the year 2003 vierspurige B 189n as west by-pass within the range bar life and Wolmirstedt were finished placed. For the crossing-free route, which attaches directly to the a2, the central land channel became under doing ELT. 2004 was then developed in the area of Brandenburg different sections.
