Butch Cassidy

Butch Cassidy, approx. 1895

Butch Cassidy (* 13. April 1866 in Beaver, Utah; † 1908 (?) in Bolivia (?)was an American lawless.

Its actual name was Robert Leroy Parker. It was that oldest of 13 children of mormonischer settlers from England. He spent its childhood on the farmstead of his parents in Circleville, Utah. He was a cattle breeder by occupation, late bank and railway robber and boss of the gang “Butch Cassidy's of savage heap”.

For the first time it came to Utah with the law into conflict, when it into a business in Hay jump, broke in, where it worked on a farm. He stole trousers and left a note that he would pay her later. It is not delivered whether it ever did that.

After its parents had lost their farm in a law case, it began a local climb ago, Mike Cassidy, to admire. Cassidy was because of its doubtful career well-known and possibly in Robert's first cattle thefts involved. About 1884 accepted Robert the name “Butch Cassidy” and became professional cattle thief.

Cassidy stole usually smaller from the business from cattle of larger farms, which tried, to urge. Many historians believe that its acts were at first well meant. It is often called “Robin Hood of the wild west " (see also Jesse James).

Its first in writing occupied crime was the armed robbery on the San Miguel Valley bank in Telluride, Colorado in June 1889, where it captured about 20,000 US$ with its gang. It was one of the pioneers of the notorious “Treck of the lawless ones” (Outlaw Trail), which pulled from Canada by Montana and Utah to Mexico.

After he had spent the years 1894 to 1896 because of horse theft in the prison, he organized a group of criminals, which as a “savage heap” admits was. The most famous member of this group was Harry Longabaugh, which admits also as “Sundance Kid “was. Between 1896 and 1901 the gang robbed banks and courses over a dozen out. 1901 continued to flee Cassidy and Sundance to New York town center and to Argentina and Bolivia, where they their occupations both when cattle breeders as well as and criminals again took up. There is however still a secret. It is maintained that the corpses were not from Butch and Sundance.
