Carl Feer duke
Carl Feer duke (* 23. October 1820 in Rixheim (Elsass), † 14. January 1880 in Aarau) was a Swiss politician, entrepreneur and a railway pioneer. It is considered as one of the most important restaurant promoters of Switzerland 19. Century.
It completed a technical-scientific study, first at the University of Geneva, then to the Ecole Centrale kinds et Manufactures in Paris. 1841 it occurred the silk ribbon factory of its father Aarau and became 1845 partners and commercial director. In the consequence it acquired a large fortune and sold to 1865 its portions to its brothers.
1852 it began its political career, as it into the large advice (canton parliament) was selected. It belonged to this up to its death in the year 1880 and was twice a president (1855/56 and 1872/73). At the same time it was national council (1857-1880) and 1874 national council president. It belonged to the liberal parliamentary group.
Carl Feer duke was a promoter of the banking and the building of railways. 1854 he was joint founder of the halfnational „Aargaui bank “, which was converted 1913 into the Aargaui cantonal bank, and was to 1880 their president. In addition it sat in the board of directors of the bank association. it belonged to 1852 to the joint founders of the Swiss cent ral course and was from 1860 to 1880 their vice-president.
