Chlorate

as chlorates one designates salts of the chlorine acid HClO ₃. They contain the Chlorat-Ion (ClO 3 as _anion ^-).

Chlorine exhibits thereby the oxidation number of +5.

Important chlorates are sodium chlorate, aluminum chlorate and potassium chlorate.
