David Helfgott

David Helfgott (* 19. May 1947 in Melbourne/Australia) is an Australian pianist; its life inspired the Australian director Scott Hicks to the film OSCAR - premium ores of films rail.

David Helfgott is well-known both for its piano play and its schizoaffektive disturbances. Its further hobbies are cats, chess, philosophy, tennis and swimming.

Helfgott buildup as a son of Polish-Jewish parents and as a miracle child was discovered, after he received piano instruction from his father for the sixth Lebensjahr. At the age of ten years it studied Arndt, a piano teacher from Perth, under franc and won numerous local of competitions, both alone and with its older sister Margaret Helfgott.

At the age of 14 years he got the offer to study in America which his father it forbade however. With 19 years it won a scholarship for a study under Cyril Smith at the Royal college OF music, London.

1966 went to David Helfgott to London. 4 years later it in the Royal Albert arose resounds , in which it with that 3. Piano concert (Rachmaninow) a triumphalen success obtained. In its time in London the symptoms of its mental disturbance stepped ever more to day. Among other things it suffered a heavy Nervenzusammenbruch. 1970 it therefore returned to Perth where it married his first Mrs. Clara in the year 1971. After the divorce it was committed to a mental hospital. 1984 he married the Astrologin Gillian Murray. Afterwards it went into the 80's and 90's-years into Australia and Europe on concert tours.

Helfgott prefers generally romantic music, like e.g. of Modest Mussorgsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, Robert Schumann and Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov.

Today lives David Helfgott in Happy Valley in new South Wales with its 2. Woman. It plays further concerts in its house, “Heaven”.
