German bishop conference
the German bishop conference (DBK) is a union of the catholic bishops of all Diözesen in Germany. Beside the Diözesanbischöfen you belong the Koadjutoren, the Diözesanadministratoren and the bishops .

Tasks of the German bishop conference are:
- Study and promotion of common pastoraler tasks
- mutual consultation
- necessary coordination of the church work in Germany
- common decisions
- care of the connection to other bishop conferences
- contact to the Vatikan
highest organ of the DBK is the plenary assembly with 66 members (September 2004). To their tasks among other things the choice of the chairman and the decree of general decrees belong. Twice in the year all members meet to a four-day plenary assembly. Spring - plenary assembly finds the autumn at changing places , - the plenary assembly always in Fulda .
Chairman of the German bishop conference is since 1987 Karl cardinal Lehmann, secretary of the German bishop conference is P. Dr. Hans's long villages SJ.
The first German bishop conference was the Fuldaer bishop conference, the today's German bishop conference decreases/goes back on the predecessor organization.
