German football federation

the German football federation (DFB) is the federation of German soccer associations. It was created in January 1900 in Leipzig. It is today also over 26.000 associations and more than six million members the largest sport federation of the world.

The DFB is divided into five regional federationswith 21 regional organizations. Over two million members are active in 170.000 crews. The DFB has 870,000 female members and places 8600 woman and girl crews. The Maskottchen of the DFB is since January 2006 and officially at the 26.März 2006 was introduced: an eagle with black feather/spring dress andyellow bill with the name „Paule “.

to 28. Mariengarten met January 1900 “in Leipzig the representatives of 86 associations from in and created foreign country and the DFB in the restaurant „. The founders' meeting led E. J. Kirmse, chairman of the Leipziger of soccer federation. Ferdinand Hueppe, which represented the DFC Prague, becamefirst presidents of the DFB selected.

Some years had been already created before federations like the federation of German football players or the German football and Cricket federation, which were limited however to subsections of the German Reich (in this case on Berlin). The first championship beyond city boundaries1898 were delivered by the federation of South German soccer associations, which followed later the DFB.

With establishment of the DFB by the 86 establishment associations there was a Germany-far guidance federation, which out-played starting from 1903 final rounds around the German championship. The first German football master was the VfB Leipzig. InThe DFB joined years 1904 by telexes as an eighth member of the FIFA .

Already 1932 demanded DFB president at that time Felix Linnemann the introduction of one „realm league “, a professional league, in which the best associations should out-play the German master. The project was rejected however by the regional federations.Until into the sixties the German master among the masters of the individual upper leagues in group plays and final play became determined, while the GDR master was already determined since the play time 1949/50 in a country-wide GDR upper league. 1954 joined the DFB of the UEFA .

1955 forbade the DFB,like also the English football federation, the woman football. Associations could create thus no woman departments and make available also no sports fields. To 30. October 1970 is again waived the prohibition.

1962 - few weeks, after the German national team with the WM in Chile in the quarter finalhad separated - the later DFB president Hermann Neuberger suggested the creation of a uniform highest play class then again. To 28. July 1962 finally decided the DFB Bundestag to Dortmund the introduction of the federal league to the season 1963/64.

For this time the German football championship in the league system is out-played(until 1991 to West Germany limits). The German master becomes then in the 34 play days the 1. Federal league out easily. The 1. Federal league exists (like also the 2. Federal league) from 18 crews.

2005 - The reputation of the DFB becomes because of the scandal one year before the WMstrongly damaged.

In the year 2006 the DFB in Germany organizes the soccer world championship for the second time after 1974. The plays become in Berlin, Dortmund, Frankfurt/Main, gel churches, Hamburg, Hanover, Kaiserslautern, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich, Nuremberg as well as in Stuttgart delivered.

The DFB has its head office in Frankfurt/Main.

the German national soccer team stepped to 5. April 1908 for the first time on the international stage up in one „friendly land fight “against Switzerland.

Since 1954 the DFB team has at all WM and since 1972participated in all EM tournaments. Among largest successes three world champion titles (1954, 1974, 1990) and three European champion Trophäen rank (1972, 1980, 1996). The world championship 2006 is delivered by the DFB in Germany.

The woman national team won the world championship 2003 as well as six European championships (1989, 1991, 1995, 1997, 2001and 2005).
