Edison Méndez

Edison Vicente Méndez Méndez (* 16. March 1979 in El Chota, canton Ibarra, province Imbabura) is an Ecuadorian football player. The 1.75 m large midfield players there he is considered both and to Spielgestalter and defensively as well as central as Allrounder, on which link and can on the right side be used. Méndez began its career with Deportivo Quito in Ecuador. it changed 2003 to the city rival El Nacional, before it was obligated to the Clausura tournament 2003/04 by Irapuato in Mexico.

With Irapuato it became the master player and obtained in 16 plays 5 gates. After the tournament the Mexican Primera División was made smaller and Irapuato lost by vote of the club presidents its participation right. It did not participate therefore in the Apertura - tournament 2004/05; Méndez was transferred to Santos Laguna. Here it could succeed not finally. It stood only six times in the starting formation and obtained two gates.

In January 2005 it returned to Ecuador. With its current association league de Quito it won the Apertura championship 2005.

national team

in the national team debütierte Méndez to 8. March 2000 with a friendship game against Honduras. It completed so far 60 international matches, in which it obtained ten gates (conditions: November 2005).

Under its gates the victory gate was to 1:0 against Croatia at the WM 2002, the only victory of Ecuador with a world championship. Méndez was selected to one the OF the match.

To 17. November 2004 obtained Méndez crucial 1:0 against Brazil in a qualification play to the WM 2006.
