Enkulturation

under Enkulturation one understands the part of the Sozialisationsprozesses, which causes the imperceptible Hereinwachsen into the respective own culture from the first neutral and culture-free newborn child up to the culturally integrated adult. Enkulturation contains the automatic, not by education steered Verinnerlichung of a culture and thatconscious planned growing in form of the education as Enkulturationshilfe and distinguishes itself thus from the Akkulturation .

The English Ethnologe Nigel Barley compares the result of the Enkulturation, i.e. the own Kulturhaftigkeit, very appropriate with our own nose, because:

“We do not see it, because them exactlybefore our eyes lies and we is used to regard the world directly by it through. If we notice it at all, we see them as part of the world. The culture of the others meanwhile is obvious, like the noses in their faces, and is offered forimpartial and lengthy research and comparisons on. “ (out: Nigel Barley, “sad Insulaner”, 1999, S.9)

Intercultural learning, foreign experiences, multi-cultural meetings are therefore important beginnings and possibilities, culture centeringness, Ethnozentrismus, of working against racingism and nationalism.
