Etzelwang is a municipality in the district Amberg Sulzbach. It lies in the west of the district. Principal place is the village Etzelwang with its church, which was established between 1721 and 1763.
Etzelwang is member of the central administrative body new churches b.Sulzbach Rosenberg.

history
the place name goes on Etzel, a Nebenform from Heinrich, first mention 1059 as “ezziliuuangen”. Politically the place belonged to boys first to the Pfalz, later to the duchy Sulzbach and then to Bavaria.
Of place of the today's church a military church level in the Middle Ages, from which nuch remainders of the walls are received only (Friedhofsmauer). The today's church built from 1721 to the completion of the tower 1763 as simultaneous church, today is Evangelist it.
