Five mountains
the five holy mountains (wuyue 五岳) of China are:
- Tai beautiful 泰山 in the east (province Shandong)
- Heng beautiful in the south (province Hunan)
- Song beautiful in the center (province Henan)
- Hua beautiful in the west (province Shaanxi)
- Heng beautiful in the north (province Shanxi)
the five holy mountains of the Chinese Daoisten, those in the old state cult nature of the Chinese emperors a large role played (in particular the Tai beautiful) four holy mountains of the Buddhisten were confronted. These are:
- Jiuhua beautiful in the province Anhui
- Emei beautiful in the province itself SCN
- Wutai beautiful in the province Shanxi
- Putuo beautiful in the province Zhejiang
