history

the association 1912 in Planitz, today a quarter by Zwickau, was created (as SG Planitz or Planitzer sports association, which came up then in the later ZSG Horch Zwickau) (ZSG = central sport community). The soccer association belonged to the highest play class in the GDR , continuously from its establishment to the season 1982/83 the upper league. Starting from the play time 1950/51 the crew BSG engine Zwickau was called, until it was renamed 1968 in BSG Saxonia ring Zwickau. At the 1. January 1990 took place then last renaming in FSV Zwickau.

successes

in the year 1950 the association under the name ZSG Horch Zwickau became by a disputed victory on the last play day against competitor SG Dresden Friedrichstadt the first master of the GDR upper league.

The tradition club 1975/76 celebrated its largest success by reaching the semi-final of the European Cup of the Cup winners. Zwickau sat down against Panathinaikos Athens (0: 0, 2: 0), the AC Florenz (0: 1, 1:0 /6: 5 n.E.) and Celtic Glasgow (1: 1, 1:0) through, before one at the later Cup winner RSC other-thirst one (0: ) failed to 3, 0:2. Already into the Sechzigern engine Zwickau had participated twice in the Pokalsiegercup. 1963/64 handed it only to the first round (MTK Budapest, 0:2, 1:0), exactly the same as 1967/68 (torpedo Moscow, 0:0, 0:1). From the season 1994/1995 to 1998 play the FSV Zwickau in the second federal league. After four series in the professional football 1996 became even the ascent into the 1. League only scarcely misses.

In the year 1998 the crew descended again into the amateur camp . Had preceded end of 1997 the dismissal of success coach Gerd harmful (meanwhile very successful as coaches of the largest „enemy “of the FSV Zwickau, the fiber plastic ore mountains Aue in the 2. Federal league).

In the center of the first half series of 1999/2000 then the financial situation intensified itself with the FSV, which culminated in the inability to pay of the association. The insolvency procedure was successfully locked after longer time. Since then the goals are called with the FSV Zwickau consolidation of finances and sporty new start. 2005 rose the association from the football upper league northeast (relay south) (4. League in Germany) into the national league Saxonia off.

stadium

of the FSV Zwickau delivers its Heimspiele in 1942 the inaugurated west Saxonia stadium, in the Zwickauer quarter Schedewitz. If it seized at the beginning of far over 25.000 spectators, then there is after conversion of DFB editions and increasing purge today still 14,200 certified places. The city Zwickau looks for at present a buyer for the stadium. (Conditions: January 2006)
