Farnborough (Hampshire)
Farnborough is a city in the county Hampshire in the south of England. Admits is the city particularly as place of event of the Farnborough international Airshow, which takes place every two years. Farnbborough has approximately 60,000 inhabitants.
Farnborough lies in the northeast of Hampshire the close border of Surrey and Hampshire. The border is marked by the river Blackwater. Until London are there about 50 km after northeast, and can with the course or over the motorway M3 are reached. The major road of the city, Farnborough Road, crosses the city of Camberley in the north and leaves the city direction Aldershot in the south.
In the city the Saint Michael's Abbey lies. In Napoléon III. were dock-suppl.-called. (1808 - 1873), emperors Frankreichs, and his Mrs. Eugénie de Montijo (1826 - 1920) buried. The crypt of sp Peter's old Parish Church is to contain the Gebeine of the Earls OF Anglesey.
The Flugshow takes place on the Farnborough Airfield between Farnborough and fleet and the earlier Air Force base of the Royal air Force . One of the flight pioneers 19. and 20 beginning. Century, Samuel Cody, was stationed in Aldershot. The Airfield is used in the meantime also for the commercial air traffic.
Farnborough is traditionally an important location of the British armaments industry. It is today the seat of the largest European arms company BAE of system.
