Ferdinand III. (Kastilien)
Ferdinand, called the holy one (* 1199; † 31. May 1252 in Sevilla) was as Ferdinand II. King of Kastilien and as Ferdinand III. King of Spain.

Life
Ferdinand became as a son of the king Alfons IX. of León and Berenguela of Kastilien, daughter Alfons' of the noble one of Kastilien, 1199 born. It became after the death of its uncle Heinrich I. 1217 king of Kastilien and after the death of its father 1230 also of León, which now beside Asturien and Galicien with Kastilien to some, indivisible, on which oldest son inheritable kingdom one combined. Thereby the foundation-stone was put to the size of Kastiliens and for the destruction of maurischen power in Spain.
Ferdinand won after several victoriesover the Mauren (particularly with Jerez de la Guadiana 1233) Córdoba 1236, Jaén 1246, Sevilla 1248, Cádiz 1250 and other cities, so that the kastilische rule was enough to to the southern sea.
Only the Kingdom of Granada was omitted the Mauren, butkastilischer upper rule. The consequence was a massive emigration of the Mauren from the countries conquered by the Christians; the staying were suppressed in hard way.
