Fra Filippo Tommaso Lippi (* approx. 1406 in Florenz, † around the 8. October 1469 in Spoleto) was an Italian painter of the early Renaissance. Its works draw by fine alignment and careful perspective organization background (in particular landscapes) out.

Lippis painting was affected, just like with Masaccio, strongly of the Perspektivlehre of the architect Brunelleschi and by the plastic realistic representation method of the human figure by the sculptor Donatello. It maintained an important workshop in Florenz, where also Sandro Botticelli and its son Filippino Lippi were trained.

both Lippis father, a butcher, and its nut/mother died, when it was still another child, and it was drawn up by its aunt. With it was accepted in the Karmeliterkloster Santa Maria del Carmine to Florenz and remained there until 1432. Its it made first steps in the painting probably there. In the neighbouring chapel of the Brancacci he could study the works Masaccios and become acquainted with so already early its techniques and mode of expression. Between 1430 and 1432 he implemented some works for the monastery, which were destroyed however 1771 by a fire.

Finally Lippi left the monastery, however probably first not by its Gelübde was relieved. In 1439 a dated letter he speaks of itself as the poorest monk of Florenz and reports that he carry the responsibility for six marriagable nieces. 1452 he was appointed the Kaplan of the convention San Giovannino in Florenz, 1457 the rector (Rettore Commendatario) of San Quirico in Legania.
