Friemar is a municipality in the Thuringian district Gotha. It belongs to the central administrative body Nesseaue.

Friemar was mentioned for the first time documentary in the year 874 and could look back 1999 on 1125 years history.
Over the origin of the name there are different views. Thus it is derived on the one hand from the goddess of the Teutons Freya and translated on the other hand also with “free market”, which is to refer to the early market justice (1418).
