Fritz Riemann (chess player)
Fritz Riemann (* 2. January 1859 into Polish point-cut; † 25. November 1932 in Erfurt) was an important German chess master.
Riemann, Anderssen one - pupil and by occupation town councillor, had his most successful phase as a chess master into the 1880er years. At the congress of the West German chess federation in Braunschweig 1880 it became second behind Louis Paulsen. In Leipzig 1888 it won together with Curt of Bardeleben forwards under other Siegbert Tarrasch.
Riemann, which lived a time long in Breslau, then in Berlin, before he pulled after Erfurt, defeated 1876 in Breslau Arnold of bulkhead countries in a match 5-0, in Berlin 1880 played it 3-3 (+2-2=2) against Emil Schallopp. it played 1885 in Breslau against Emil Flechsig 5-5 (+5-5=0).
Riemann wrote an important book concerning its chess career, which is provided with valuable memories of Adolf Anderssen one: Chess gutter run gene of the youngest Anderssen pupil, Berlin/Leipzig 1925.
Its best historical Elo number amounted to 2632. This reached it in March 1889. It was therefore also some time under „the Top 10 “of the world.
