Gregor of Rezzori

Gregor of Rezzori, actually Gregor d'Arezzo (* 13. May 1914 in Czernowitz in the Bukowina, Austria Hungary; † 23. April 1998 in Donnini, Toscana, Italy) was Romanian, Russian starting from 1940, 1944 to 1984 stateless person, afterwards Austrian writer and Filmschauspieler.

Rezzori came of to a Sicilian family, the center 18. Century over north Italy to Vienna came. Rezzoris grandfather worked as an architect in the service of the Austrian-Hungarian monarchy. Its father was a civil servant in Czernowitz, therefore the family became starting from 1919 Romanian citizens. Until 1940 was Gregor of Rezzori of Romanian, then Russian citizens. Later it lived forty years long than stateless people.

Rezzori visited High Schools in crowning city (filter defiency guarantee), prince field (Steiermark) and Vienna. In Leoben it studied mining industry, in Vienna architecture and medicine. It interrupted these studies, in order to do its military service in Romania. Rezzori remained subsequently, four years long drawing and painting in Bucharest and completed an art study in Vienna. 1938 he came to Berlin and began to write.

With maintenance novels Rezzori introduced into the literature enterprise. After end of war he worked particularly as journalist and a radio author. Until 1948 it was busy with the NWDR (later than free coworker) and told for the night program first of its Maghrebini stories. These funny, every now and then tolldreisten anecdotes and legends from the balkanesischen fantasy country Maghrebinien justified Rezzoris world success as writers. They appeared 1952 in book form. Beside Rezzori remained as a film script author actively and worked in approximately a dozen films as passionierter opportunity actors with (e.g. Viva Maria! 1965). Rezzori was since 1958 member of the PEN - center of the Federal Republic of Germany.

From his first marriage with Priska of Tiedemann three sons originate. A second marriage with the painter Hanna Axmann became divorced after short time. 1967 he married Beatrice Monti della Corte, who dell'Ariete in Milan the “Galleria” a considerable modern art gallery made. Also Rezzori was concerned intensively with art. Its private collection, which was distributed on the domiciles in the Toskana, on Rhodos and in Milan, put of it certification down. The feuilleton appreciated Rezzori as chroniclers of a sunk epoch, which the letter had brought with more easily hand to the championship.
