the hilly landscape offers a wonderful view of the trusting stone (mountain) and the hell mountains. The place is on 523 m height. The expansion amounts to from north to south 6 km, from west to east 6.1 km. The total area amounts to 16.7 km ². 18.0% of the surface are wooded, 70.7% of the surface are agriculturally used.

the coat of arms consists of a broken, achtspeichigen wheel before golden background, which is equipped with iron points/teeth outside. The wheel is partly covered by a green, angehackten diagonal bar. The broken arranging wheel with the iron points/teeth is the characteristic the holy Katharina, the Kirchenpatronin of Gschwandt. The angehackte diagonal bar refers to the emergence of the place by Rodung.
