Gustav Leonhardt
Gustav Leonhardt (* 30. May 1928 in 's-Graveland, the Netherlands), is an important Netherlands conductor, Cembalist and an organist.
To the study in the Netherlands it changed 1947 to the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and 1950 to the Viennese music academy, where it was appointed 1952 the professor. 1954 he became a professor for Cembalo at the Amsterdamer conservatoire, beyond that also organist to the there Waalsekerk.
It created 1955 the “Leonhardt Consort “and became known as an interpreter of the works of Johann Sebastian brook . Together with Nikolaus Harnoncourt is considered to Leonhardt as one of the pioneers of historical performance practice. Between 1971 and 1990 he realized the extensive project of the admission of all Kirchenkantaten of J. together with Harnoncourt. S. Brook. Since 1988 he teaches also to the Accademia musicals Chigiana in Siena.
In the film “chronicle the Anna Magdalena brook” of Jean Marie Straub (1967) it participated not only as an interpreter, but also as an actor in the role of brook.
