Gyeongsangbuk DO (north Gyeongsang) is a province in the east of South Korea. In the north it borders on Gangwon DO, in the east on the east sea (Japanese sea). In the south the province is limited by Gyeongsangnam DO, in the west by Jeollabuk DO and Chungcheongnam DO. InThe south lies the town with millions of inhabitants Daegu, which stands since 1981 under separate administration.

geography

in the summer is Gyeongsangbuk DO the hottest province of South Korea, because it to a large extent ofthe Gebirgzügen Taebaek San Maek (in the east) and Sobaek (in the north and the west) is surrounded. To the south the country opens on the other hand part of the former province Gyeongsang DO. A further important landscape characteristic is the river Naktonggang, which divides the province into north south direction. Also thoseIsland Ulleungdo belongs to Gyeongsangbuk DO.

the province was the homeland of the Silla - kingdom and its cultural traditions to a large part maintained. A number of artists, political leaders and scholars originate from this province.

economics

agricultural productsthe province are above all rice, beans, potatoes and barley; well-known specialities are apples from Daegu. Dairy farming is operated in some parts of the province, but sea products such as algae and Tintenfisch are also of great importance.

The steel processing, electronics has economic meaningand textile industry. The majority of the persons employed works however meanwhile within the service range. The port of Pohang is starting point of important sea-routes to Japan, Russia and North Korea.
