Hammer DeRoburt
hammer DeRoburt, K.B.E. (* 25. September 1922; † 15. July 1992 in Melbourne) was an establishment president of the Republic of Nauru and led the country for most time of its first twenty years of independence.
as one of the 737 survivors of the Japanese Deportation of all Nauruer after Chuuk (1942 - 1946) it became into the 1950er - years the local chieftain advice selected; 1955 he was selected to the upper chieftain. He was a chief negotiator at royal phosphate company with the colonial power Australia, which Nauru administered as unfaithful hand area.
DeRoburt led the country into independence to 31. January 1968 and was most time of the period up to 17. August 1989 president. In December 1976 younger politicians won a majority and made Berne pool of broadcasting corporations Dowiyogo the president, but DeRoburt got its power again in May 1978. It was not likewise in the office for two short periods in September and December 1986. 1982 lent queen Elizabeth II to it. those order OF the British Empire.
It died in Melbourne to 15. July 1992 at diabetes.
