As a sports club locomotive Leipzig developed changed the association 1963 into the again created sports club Leipzig . Here the name predecessor celebrated largest successes of association history until 1992 with 13 GDR master titles, two cup victories and four Europacupsiegen. To the dissolution sports club Leipzig changed the lady hand ball department to the again-created VfB Leipzig. This came however to end of the 90's into ever larger financial problems. Thus the hand ball department of the association, which could be affected only sportily like financially successful section of the VfB, not by the threatening insolvency, one decided at the end of of 1999 to the separation from the VfB Leipzig and was based with the HCL its own association.

the probably most well-known fan club of the HCL is the SaxionaFanclub. Most of the 16 members are with each play (whether at home or outward) thereby. With their many instruments they provide for the necessary tendency in the arena Leipzig. The great Feeling in the arena is supported thereby and it always prevails to “Gänsehautstimmung”. This tendency is passed also fast to the “spectators”, who support “their HCL” energetically and about each thrown gate are pleased.
