Harry Nelson Pillsbury
Harry Nelson Pillsbury (* 5. December 1872 in Somerville, Massachusetts, † 17. June 1906 in Philadelphia) was an US-American chess player.

only with 16 years learned Pillsbury the game of chess, made then however rapid progress.
Its largest success was the victory in the international tournament of Hastings 1895, which it could win before the world champion Emanuel Lasker and the entire world elite at that time. 1898 it divided the first place in the emperor anniversary tournament into Vienna with Tarrasch. In the year 1900 it divided into Munich the victory with bad and Maróczy.
Also its conceptions in the blind simultaneous play, whose mental efforts of many contemporaries were regarded as a cause for its early death, with only 34 years, caused sensation. Indeed it died however to the Syphilis.
Its best historical Elo number amounted to 2816. This reached it in July 1901. He was also over 16 months in the years 1903 and 1904 the world-best player.
