Henry Carey

Henry Carey (* 1687; † 4. October 1743 in London) was an English poet and composer.

It composed musical farces and songs, under it the Ballade Sally in Our Alley, well-known in the English linguistic area, which appeared printed 1737 in a collection of its works. Despite its popularity it lived due to the activity of Plagiatoren in poverty.

It was maintained by his son later that Carey had been an author of the later British national anthem God save the Queen.
