Hermann Emil Fischer
Hermann Emil Fischer (* 9. October 1852 in Euskirchen; † 15. July 1919 in Berlin) is considered as a founder of modern biochemistry.
Biografie
grown up in Euskirchen as last the latter andonly son beside five sisters it made 1869 as Primus Abitur. It broke buyer teachings off for health reasons, in order to then study starting from Easter 1871 chemistry at the University of Bonn. In Strasbourg it attained a doctorate 1874 with Adolf ofBaeyer over the acylation of Phenophtaleinfarbstoffen, after it had had to break its first graduation topic off, because with experimenting important equipment had gone to it to break. Over hydrazine it habilitierte 1876 in Munich and became there already 1879 professor for Analytic chemistry. To stopovers in attaining and peppering castle he moved 1892 to Berlin. A cancer illness, which was very probably a consequence of its work with the poisonous Phenylhydrazin, induced it 1919 to free death.
achievements
some itsimportant contributions to chemistry are the clearing-up of the glucose structure, which designated Indol synthesis ( 1883 ) and the formulation of the key lock principle after it (1894).
Derivatives of the Diethylbarbitursäure, which came as sleeping drug under the designation “Veronal” into the trade, synthesized by it, are this very day of commercial importance. After Fischer the Fischer nomenclature was designated.
Fischer received the Nobelpreis for chemistry to 1902 “as acknowledgment of extraordinary earnings/services, which he itself by its work in the area of the sugars - and Puringruppen acquired".
Also as teachers Emil Fischer had a large influence. Its Einführende organic lecture was perpetuated didactically by one of his former students Hans Beyer in the “text book for organic chemistry” and places today still another part of the basic canon of the organic ones Chemistry there. This very day Euskirchen the Emil Fischer High School are designated , in Leverkusen the Emil Fischer road and in attaining the Emil Fischer center (pharmaceutical Institut of the university) after it in its birth city.
The society of German chemists lends to that for extraordinary earnings/services in the area Organic chemistry the Emil Fischer intending coin.
