Hermann Lietz
Hermann Lietz (* 28. April 1868 in Dumgenewitz on Rügen † 12. June 1919 in Haubinda) was a German reform paedagogue and founder of the German boarding schools for boys.
Hermann Lietz was the child of a farmer, handling the animals and nature it lastingly coined/shaped. To the school it went on High Schools in the Hanseatic cities grab forest and Stralsund. He rejected alcohol and nicotine consistently, which is attributed to its dislike against “Unsitten of the class taverns” into grab forest.
1888 took up Lietz the study of theology, philosophy, history and Germanistik to resound and led this 1891/1892 in Jena to end. Subsequently, it attained a doctorate to the Dr. phil. During its study it argued with Paul de Lagarde , who remained lifelong its model.
Since 1892 as a teacher actively, he concerned itself increasingly with reform questions of the Pädagogik, which matured by a stay with Cecil Reddie in Abbotsholme 1896/97. From this 1898 the establishment of the boarding school in Ilse castle (resin) followed, further in Haubinda (Thuringia) (1901; Hermann Lietz school Haubinda) and lock Bieberstein (Hessen) (1904; ) Followed Hermann Lietz school Bieberstein.
Because its boarding schools were preferably visited by children from rich parents' house, it decided 1914 to the establishment of a land orphan home in Veckenstedt. Further schools in the lock Buchenau as well as in the lock Hohenwehrda (Hermann Lietz school Hohenwehrda).
Lietz is the founder of the German boarding schools; further are created briefly later by Gustav Wyneken, Paul Geheeb and cock. The starting point of the boarding schools is the criticism at the civil society.
1919 died Hermann Lietz in Haubinda.
Lietz was an advocate of the separate-sexual education, however the homes created by him became later koedukativ. Its Reformpädagogik lives until today in some Hermann Lietz schools away.
