deer mountain (Saale) is a town in the south of the Thuringian Saale Orla circle, at the upper run of the Saxonian Saale. It borders directly on the Free State of Bavaria .

Geography

adjacent municipalities are Birkenhügel, Pottiga and the city Gefell in the Saale Orla circle as well as mountain, Köditz and Töpen in the Bavarian district yard.

in March 1848 was the city the most important revolution center in the Principality of Reuss Lobenstein Ebersdorf. After the resignationthe prince Heinrich LXXII. in the same year Lobenstein Ebersdorf came up into the Schleizer line as Reuss recent line , to which deer mountain belonged until 1918.

by deer mountain leads the Saale Orla Wanderweg and the Saale cycle track.

At the hall bridge is a museum for tannery and urban history.

the city are between the federal highway 2 and the federal motorway 9.

Until 1994 gave it a railway connection after beautiful mountain (Vogtland), where connection existed to the Saxonia Franconia Magistrale. Up to the year 2000 this distance was served still by goods trains. The nearest stations are now Grobau at the section Plauen - Yard of the Saxonia Franconia Magistrale and Köditz at the distance yard - bath Steben, both about eleven kilometers removes.
