the city center is the internal part of a city (English. town center centre, cent ral business district or downtown, town center alone means city center, but only city in English not!)generally, also under stress of the function in the town structure as town center or cent ral Businesses District (CBD) or city centre designates, in which usually all important traffic routes and supplying way meet, flow or cross into one another. The moreover one concentrate here trade, service facilities of the city and, depending upon status of the city, regional administrations, stations and ZOB - thus mechanisms of the tertiary sector. Because of the high price of land there is a tendency for land development with multistoried buildings and to high building density as well as a small and/or. shrinking resident population.

in many cities coincides the range of the city center with the area of the historical town centre, the urban germ cell , so that objects of interest ( churches, building and cultural monuments, historical buildings) are concentrated here. City center that is called quarter, which does not carry an extra proven name, but one designates colloquially as such.
